Why Hockey Fans Should Be Excited for the Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken has entered the hockey realm. On April 13th, 2008 the Seattle SuperSonics left the Emerald City in a complete rebrand that left a hole in the city of Seattle. Now the Kraken are the 32nd team in the NHL and this city is perfect for hockey.

Seattle is home to some great fans. The Seahawks with the 12th Man and the Sounders (MLS) both have rabid fanbases that pack Century Link Field. It is also home to the University of Washington Huskies, where their fans at Husky Stadium recorded the loudest stadium noise at 133.6 decibels. Hockey fans, in general, are usually a rambunctious bunch. Mix hockey passion with a city that is known for being rowdy and itching for a new team to cheer for and the Kraken will have one of the best atmospheres in the NHL.

The Kraken are going to immediately have a rival as soon as they enter the league in the Vancouver Canucks. 2 and a half hours separates Seattle with Vancouver. They will rightfully be in the same division and provide a new United States/Canadian border rivalry that should be fun to keep up with.

Light Shows have been a huge addition to the atmosphere of hockey games. Most recently we have seen the Las Vegas Knights putting on a show before the game itself starts. I anticipate the Seattle Kraken to have an extravagant light show, that shows the Kraken enter the rink and then devour the logo or mascot of the opposing team. Can you imagine seeing the Kraken break through the ice and eat a bunch of penguins? It would be electric!

Seattle getting another major sport was a long time coming. As a hockey fan, I absolutely love it. In recent years Seattle has emerged as a terrific sports city. Since the SuperSonics moved it left a hole in Seattle that may now be filled due to the Kraken.
